Joined LBMC: 2007

A Tennessee native, Dennis Blanton attended the University of Tennessee, receiving a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. Dennis joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving six years in the reserves. After he completed his degree, he moved to California and began his career with a large manufacturer as a cost accountant. Dennis decided to move back to Chattanooga with his wife Monica to begin a family, where he joined Petty & Landis as a staff accountant and became a partner in 2000. Petty & Landis merged in 2007 with LBMC, and Dennis shifted laterally into his shareholder role.

Current Role

Dennis serves as the Chattanooga practice leader and works mainly with clientele in the manufacturing, distribution, and service industries; every day offers different challenges. Using his communication skills, he enjoys listening to people to determine their needs, then utilizes the resources at LBMC to effectively address these needs. He also loves helping internal clients, explaining, “I work with the younger staff, sharing experience that might help them as they gain their own experience. There’s a lot of satisfaction when you later notice something you’ve said to them truly resonated.”

Unique Factors of LBMC

The wide range of services LBMC has to offer is an important factor in LBMC’s uniqueness. As Dennis explains, “It’s a combination of all the resources we can bring together. There are a lot of wonderful people with great experience who work at LBMC and with LBMC’s affiliates.” There is a deep wealth of knowledge at LBMC.

Personal Life

With a love of travel, Dennis’ and Monica’s dreams are to discover places such as Italy, Alaska and various beaches someday soon. In the meantime, they love exploring Chattanooga together. Dennis enjoys racquetball and has recently taken up paddle boarding. His next adventure? It’s an open-ended question, especially as an empty nester! Dennis and his wife have two boys: Alexander, 25, who is a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and Wesley, 23, who is in supply chain management. They also have a daughter, Miriam, who is a freshman in college at The University of Tennessee.
